Duane Huffman

Duane Patton Huffman, 84, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Friday, June 29, 2018, at his home.

Duane was born September 23, 1933, in Keystone, Oklahoma on the Coates Farm. He was the son of Clarence Patton and Freida Pearl (Harp) Huffman. As a young man, Duane grew up and attended school in Keystone later transferring to Cleveland schools where he graduated with the Class of 1951. Following graduation, Duane entered into the service of his country with the United States Navy. He served his country honorably until January 1956. During Duane’s time in the military, he was united in marriage to Wanda in Cleveland, Oklahoma on May 18, 1954. Following his discharge, Duane and Wanda remained in California before returning to Oklahoma in 1958. Upon their return, they resided in Tulsa before moving to their current home in 1959. Duane worked for the United States Postal system for nearly eleven years before changing occupations. He then began driving a dump truck as well as a concrete mixer driver. Duane later started driving over the road and worked for Ryder as well as Herman Brothers.

Duane was very proud of his military service. He served his country for over 27 years in the Navy and Navy Reserves. He was also a Korean War Veteran. Duane has also stated he has traveled to every state in the US except Vermont. He has felt that some of his most significant accomplishments were his marriage to Wanda, having upstanding children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Some of his fondest memories are the times spent with his family during vacations. His father and stepfather Luther Siens have had probably the greatest effect on his life. Duane’s hobbies consist of hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. Most of all in life Duane loved his God, family, and friends.

Survivors are his loving wife Wanda of the home, two children David Huffman of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Pamela Carlock and her husband Jim of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, three siblings Bert Huffman of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Susan Claybourne of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Cheryl Cronister of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, grandchildren Michael Huffman, Genny Wilkerson, Will Huffman, Jonathan Jennings, Chris Carlock, Myrenda Carlock; ten greatgrandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. Duane was preceded in death by his parents.
