Doris L. Crider

Doris Lee Crider, 96, passed from this life on September 25, 2018, to be with her Lord and Savior. Doris was born July 6, 1922, in Mountainburg, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Jess T. and Virgie M. (Pope) Baker. As a young girl, she grew up in West Fork, Arkansas where she received her education. Following her marriage to David W. Crider on November 28, 1953, in Galena, Kansas. Doris and David moved to Wichita, Kansas. Doris and David had also resided in Tillamook, Oregon, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Detroit before they retired in the early 1990’s and moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma. On January 3, 1997, after 43 years of marriage, David passed away. Doris remained in Cleveland before moving to Broken Arrow to be closer to her sister Louise.

Doris enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, quilting, patchwork, and redbirds. She had a passion for making sure the family reunions happened yearly. Doris loved to attend church socials, Sunday School, musical events at the Terlton Senior Center, and sewing club. She truly enjoyed helping people including writing letters to friends and family.

Surviving Doris is her daughter Barbara Ortez of Silver Springs, Nevada, siblings Jewel D. Baker of Aldrich, Missouri, Donal Baker and his wife Carole of Rogers, Arkansas, Nadell Longmate and her husband John of Mountainburg, Arkansas, Louise Johns of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma as well as numerous other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her siblings Pauline Baker, Eugene Baker, Paul Baker, Jess Baker, and Kenneth Baker.

Services are being held for Doris on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at 2 pm at the First Assembly of God Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma with Pastor Dan Edens officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
