Ralph Richard (Dick) Risinger passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on June 4, 2021, at the age of 78. Dick was born on June 9, 1942, in Hominy, OK, son of John Risinger and Doris M. Loper Risinger. Dick’s father was a manager for Anthony’s stores, so the family moved frequently, but in 1955 they moved to Fairfax, OK, where he completed his high school years and graduated in 1960. That summer, his father passed away and Doris, Dick, and Mike (younger brother) moved to Cleveland. In the fall of 1960, Dick attended NEO in Miami, OK, for his freshman year in college.

Dick met Barbara Ann Overman in the summer of 1957 at church camp and the friendship began. After his move to Cleveland, their friendship was rekindled, and they were married late in the Summer of 1961. The couple moved to Stillwater, where Dick took courses in accounting. In the Fall of 1962, they moved to Norman, where Dick attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating with a pharmacy degree in 1966. After graduation, the couple lived in Bartlesville, Cushing, before moving to Cleveland, OK, in 1969, where Dick purchased the Rexall Drug from “Doc” Pearce. After a few years, he sold the drugstore and went to work with his father-in-law Dixie Overman at Overman Insurance Agency. Dick became the owner and ran the agency for many years until retirement.

Dick and Ann raised three children in Cleveland; John, Tracy, and Lance. Dick was an active member of the Rotary Club and the First Christian Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, elder, and Chairman of the Board.

Dick loved fishing with Dixie and “the gang,” going on ski trips with his kids and church youth group, vacations with family, and spending time with extended family. Those who knew Dick are aware of his zeal for all sports involving the University of Oklahoma, especially Sooner football. Dick’s true passion was teaching God’s word. He spent hours reading, digesting, memorizing, and sharing the scriptures. This was the true “love of his life” - God’s Word.

In 2014, Dick and Ann moved from Cleveland to Owasso, OK, to be near their children. They joined First Church, where Dick continued his love of teaching a Sunday School class and a small group called “Seasoned Saints” until cancer took over his body.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, John and Doris Risinger, and his youngest son Lance who passed on December 2, 2020. Dick is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Ann; son John Risinger and wife, Robin of Owasso; daughter Tracy Downs and husband, Darrell of Owasso; sister Barbara Parent of Ponca City; brother Mike Risinger and wife, Debi of Cedar City, Utah; grandchildren Jordan Risinger and wife, Jessica; Evan Risinger and wife, Sidney; Grant Downs, Jackson Downs, Mason Downs, Kate Downs, Brooke Lindamood and husband Josh, John Burger, Jace Burger and wife, Kailey; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family request that you make a donation to First Christian Church of Cleveland for the Mid India Christian Mission.
