Dick Len Bartley

Dickie Len Bartley was born on January 5, 1949 in Yale, Oklahoma. He was the son of Floyd William and Gladys (Dollar) Bartley. Dickie was raised and attended school in Mannford, graduating from Mannford High School in 1967. While attending high school and dragging main street in Cleveland, Dickie met his soon to be wife Marsha Owens. The couple was married at the First Assembly of God Church in Cleveland on July 5, 1968.
The couple made their initial home in Cleveland and have resided here their entire married life. They have three children Jason Len, Jeremy Leigh and LaReina Gayle; all three graduating from Cleveland High School. Before Dickie and Marsha were married, Dickie attended Connors State College in Warner for a while before attending Central Area Vo-Tech in Drumright where he obtained his certification as a welder. Dickie then worked on various refinery turnarounds throughout the United States after becoming a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermaker's Union, Local 592. He later accepted a position with T. H. Rogers Lumber Company in Cleveland. In 1988 Dickie was employed as a correctional officer at the Dick Conner Correctional Center in Hominy, Oklahoma. Following an incident in 2001, Dickie was transferred to the Correctional Center mailroom where he served as a clerk for a short time before being promoted to Supervisor. He retired in 2014 after nearly twenty-seven years with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
From an early age, Dickie enjoyed fishing and hunting. He would often take Marsha fishing for crappie and on coon hunts. The love of the outdoors carried over into his family life as he loved to take his family camping and fishing; enjoying numerous outings together. He served as an Officer for the Green Country Soccer Association for many years as well as helping coach his sons and daughter in soccer. He enjoyed going to garage and yard sales with Marsha where he enjoyed visiting and negotiating that one "good deal." He also loved spending time with his daughter, LaReina on their annual Black Friday shopping event. As he became a proud Grandpa, he loved to watch his grandchildren playing soccer, basketball, and football. He enjoyed going to taco Tuesday with his family. He was an avid University of Oklahoma Sooner Football fan and also was a OKC Thunder fan. He enjoyed watching television as long as he had control of the remote, and he didn't care if it was at his own house. It was said he even remained in control of the remote when he was sleeping. An additional hobby, that Dickie participated in was wood burning, also called pyrography, the process of drawing a picture on a piece of wood with a hot brass tip.
Dickie was a faithful Christian, who served his Lord and Savior at the First Assembly of God Church. He served as a deacon for many years. He was described by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who was helpful and dedicated to his God, Family, Church and Friends. He went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Forest Hills Care and Rehab Center in Broken Arrow at the age of sixty-seven.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha of the home; two sons and their wives, Jason Len and Sarah Bartley of Cleveland, Jeremy Leigh and Amber Bartley of Cleveland, and LaReina Gayle and her finance, William Garrett of Cleveland, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Corbin Leigh Bartley, Ryan Len Bartley, Creston Neal Bartley, Jeryn CeRae Bartley and EmmaLeigh Carol Bartley; brother and his wife, Maxel and Dorothy Bartley of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; sister, Naomi Jones of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Kay Bartley of Mannford, Oklahoma; father-in-law, Cecil Owens of Cleveland, Oklahoma; his two dogs Bella and Precious; and numerous other family and friends that will mourn his passing.
