Debra Diane DeRoin Bighorse, 69, of Hominy, OK passed from this life to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at the Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK.
Debra was born February 6th, 1953, in Hominy to Reuben Reed DeRoin and Neva Virginia Evens DeRoin. She was raised and received her education in Hominy. While in school she was active in the band and was a baton twirler. After high school she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Wise and later as an Osage Nation Headstart teacher.
Debra was a member of the Otoe and Osage tribes and was from the Bear Clan.
Debra enjoyed cooking for special occasions and other family functions. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and attending the Hominy in Lon Schka in June.
Survivors are her three sons-Edmund Kenworthy, Peter James Kenworthy and Norris Bighorse. Also surviving are two grandchildren-Sage Morningstar Bighorse and Andrew Scott Bighorse; two brothers­James Reed DeRoin and Batt DeRoin; two sisters-Denice DeRoin-Acott and Caroline DeRoin, also numerous nieces, and nephews, she was preceded in death by her parents Reuben and Neva and sister Jo Reed a Clark and three nephews.
Debra's request was to be cremated and having her ashes interred in the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cemetery at Red Rock, OK next to her father and grandfather. This will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Cleveland, OK.
