Dawn Rene Walker

Dawn René Walker, 52, passed from this life on June 6, 2019, with her family at her side in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dawn was born on October 21, 1966, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Billy and Peggy (Blackburn) Reed. Dawn soon moved with her parents to Winslow, Illinois. She began kindergarten there and in the fourth grade moved again with her family to Neosho, Missouri. She attended school at Seneca and later started her freshman year in Cleveland. Dawn was very active in sports. She played softball and basketball, as well as participated in track and cheerleading. She also achieved the accolades of National Honors Society graduating with the Class of 1984. After high school, Dawn remained in Cleveland and began working at the Cleveland Bank as a teller. She later moved to Tulsa in 1991 and accepted a position with First National Bank in Tulsa. On January 14, 1992, in Neosho, Missouri, Dawn was united in marriage to Terry Walker. Dawn and Terry established their home in Tulsa, and she continued working in the banking business. She was later promoted to Senior Vice President with the Bank of America. Her last position was as a Financial Advisor with the Bank of Oklahoma at 58th and Lewis. She retired in April of this year and enjoyed her time by their pool.

Dawn’s life revolved around God and her family. She always looked forward to watching her boys play baseball, attending wrestling tournaments, or just sitting by the water thinking about her family. Dawn was very devoted to her Lord and Savior. She taught a ladies’ class at church for many years, studied the Bible nonstop, and was quite often asked about her interpretation of the scriptures. Dawn and Terry enjoyed traveling together. Her favorite places were by the water: the lake, the Bahamas, and Florida. They also took numerous weekend trips, especially when the boys were active in sports. She and Terry played for many years co-ed softball. Dawn also played golf with Terry and the boys while they were growing up. She was very active despite overcoming several sports-related injuries. Dawn was an inspiration to many that she has come across during her battles with cancer. She has been a yearly participant in the “Get Your Rear in Gear 5K” for the past three years. Most of all in life, Dawn loved her God, church, and family more than anyone can imagine.

Survivors include her husband Terry of the home, two children J.R. Hager and his wife Kristen of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Cameron Walker and his wife Tiffany of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; mother Peggy Moreino and Denny of Pawnee, Oklahoma; one sister Debbie Ball and her husband Randy of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two grandchildren Jayci Caldwell, Jaxon Hager as well as numerous other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Ray Reed
