Darrell Glen McEntire, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013, near Osage, Oklahoma due to injuries received following a motor vehicle accident. Darrell was 52 years, nine months and twenty days. Darrell was born April 26, 1960, in Denver, Colorado. Darrell was the son of Freeman Dale and Carol Jean (Petty) McEntire. As a young man Darrell grew up in the community of Elbert, Colorado which is located southwest of Denver. Darrell moved with his family to several places prior moving to the Cleveland area. Following the completion of his education Darrell began working in the oil fields of northeastern Oklahoma. He worked as a roughneck and derrick hand for several drilling companies in the area. Several years later Darrell gained employment as a roustabout. During his time as a roustabout Darrell worked for Lester Well Services as well as Cleveland Lease. Following an injury in the oil field Darrell worked as a drywall finisher. He was forced into retirement in 2005, due to medical conditions. Darrell loved hunting, trapping and fishing. He also spent many hours scouring the river bottoms for relic arrowheads. Darrell loved being around his family and always looked forward to the family reunions. Darrell for many years thought LOL meant ìLots of Loveî. Darrell has also just recently become very vocal about his political beliefs and enjoyed posting them on Facebook. Darrell has been a member of the Blackburn Baptist Church for many years. Survivors are his wife Kathy of the home, three children Israel McEntire of Blackburn, Oklahoma, Chelsey McEntire of Blackburn, Oklahoma, Elijah McEntire of Blackburn; parents Freeman and Carol McEntire of Belle Plaine, Kansas; four siblings Brenda McEntire of Wichita, Kansas, Susan Weaver and her husband Dennis of Bixby, Oklahoma; Buddy McEntire and his wife Melissa of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Troy McEntire and his wife Kristi of Belle Plaine, Kansas; two grandchildren Erin Nichole, Rory Makayla Lynn and one on the way as well as numerous other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. Darrell was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents Alford and Myrtle McEntire, Leslie and Inez Petty. Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Blackburn Baptist Church with Pastor Allison Dickey officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 19, 2013 from 12:00 pm till 7:00 pm. The body will be cremated following the services under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
