Dana Kay White

Dana Kay White, 53, passed from this life on December 23, 2019, at her home with her family by her side. Born on July 25, 1966, in Hominy, Oklahoma, Dana is the daughter of John Willy “Bill” and Vernie-Mae Audrey (Hull) Mercer. She grew up in Hominy and attended school there till the age of 12. At which time, Dana transferred to Wynona Schools. During high school, Dana worked at Teresa’s Drive-In in Wynona. After high school, Dana opened a daycare, which she operated for several years. In June 1984, she married Larry Dilley in Wynona, Oklahoma. The couple made their initial home on 3rd Street. From this union were three children; John Matthew in 1985, Lacey in 1994, and Bethany in 1995. Dana took employment with Cleveland Manor in 1999, then Cleveland Hospital shortly after. She gained her certification as a nurse’s aide with Wings Nursing School, as well as a home health aide. Shortly after, Dana went to Sapulpa Central Tech to become a certified med aide. In 2007, she met Jack Russell White and they were wed a short time later at Antioch Church in Wynona, with Wayne Brown officiating. The couple settled in Hominy. Dana later received employment with Cimarron Pointe Care Center, and they moved to Mannford. She also worked for some time in home health/hospice.

Dana is described as strong-willed, caring, compassionate, and good-spirited. She was a member of the Citizen Potawatomi tribe. When passing time, Dana could be found reading her mother’s bible, doing yard work (even sometimes in the dark), tending to her dogs & fish, and spending time with the grandkids. Jack and Dana would take trips to Arkansas to see her best friend, Shelly, as well as Northern California near Lake Almanor, and weekend trips to Skiatook Lake (where Jack proposed). If she wanted something to drink, she would always take a Pepsi. Most of all, Dana loved having the family over, especially the grandkids.

Dana is survived by her husband of the home, Jack Russell White; 3 children, Matthew Dilley of Amarillo, Texas, Lacey Dilley of Mannford, Oklahoma, Bethany Dilley of Terlton, Oklahoma; 2 step-children, Robyn White-Bentley of Hominy, Oklahoma and Sarah Bottini of Chester, California; a brother Mike Mercer of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; a sister Karen Ratliff of Wynona, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, Christian, Bradley, Carissa, Lukas, Ryker, Darrin, Brysynn, Kennedy; and her best friend, Shelly Brennen. Dana is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

A celebration of Dana’s life will be held Friday, December 27, 2019, at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church in Wynona, Oklahoma. She will be laid to rest in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. An online guestbook is available at www.chapman-black.com
