Dale Austin Woodrell, 83, passed from this life on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at his home in Terlton, Oklahoma. Born on July 20, 1936, in Terlton, Oklahoma, Dale is the son of Austin Richmond and Mary Stella (Hudson) Woodrell. He attended Hallett Schools, then later transferred to Terlton Schools. After completing his education, Dale began working for McDonnell Douglas. In 1954, in Hallett, Oklahoma, Dale married the love of his life, Maxine Wolfe. Shortly after, Dale joined the U.S. Army. Specialist Woodrell served seven months of active duty before being transferred to the reserves. He was called upon one other occasion before he was honorably discharged. Dale returned and gained employment at Southwestern Bell. He worked in Tulsa for a short time before returning to the Cleveland office where he retired after 39 years. Dale’s retirement consisted of raising cattle, horses, bailing hay and spending time with family.
Dale loved to eat at Click’s Steakhouse and Golden Corral. To pass the time, he loved listening to music as well as taking trips to Mountain View, Arkansas. Christmas Eve dinners were special times for Dale. He always looked forward to teasing the grandkids. For over 50 years, Dale was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, as well as a member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association. In 1997, Dale received the Pawnee County Farming Conservation Award. Dale has lived in the same 3-mile radius all his life. Devout in his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Dale was a member of the Baptist Church in Terlton and in Hallett.
Dale is survived by his wife Maxine of the home; two sons Larry Woodrell and his wife Ann of Terlton, Oklahoma, Roger Woodrell and his wife Becky of Terlton, Oklahoma; one brother Darrel Woodrell and his wife Madelyn of Cleveland, Oklahoma; six grandchildren Nicky Bevins and her husband Kevin, Clint Woodrell and his wife Holly, Austin Woodrell and his wife Savana, Aubrey Elledge and her husband Russell, Courtney Bart and her husband Luke, Caleb Hawks and his wife Ashley; eight great-grandchildren; Brevon Bevins, Gus Bart, Emmaline Hawks Lewis, Ava Bart, Addy Woodrell, Jolee Bevins, Jake Woodrell, Cooper Hawks; two sister-in-laws Martha Thornton and her husband Glenn of Bixby, Oklahoma; Carmelita Wolfe of Cleveland, Oklahoma. Dale was preceded in death by his parents Austin and Stella Woodrell, brother Dwight Woodrell, Sr., sister Dorothy Novotny, nephew Dwight Woodrell, Jr. and brother in law Jim Wolfe.

A visitation will be held for Dale on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, from 10:00 AM till 7:00 PM at Chapman-Black Funeral Home. A life celebration will be held Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church of Terlton. Pastors Justin White and Randy Alley will officiate the service. Dale will be laid to rest at Terlton Cemetery in Terlton, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
