Cully Hopkins

Cully J. Hopkins was born February 5, 1905 in Oklahoma, Indian Territory, near Ada. She was the daughter of Samuel and Mary Crowell. Cully was raised and attended school in the Ada and Henryetta area.

Cully was married to John Robert Hopkins in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on January 5, 1924. The couple had two sons, Donald and Robert. They made their initial home in Henryetta and then later moved to Kansas where John was employed by Chanplin Petroleum for several years. Upon John's retirement in 1970 the couple moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Cully dedicated her life to being a homemaker, housewife, mother and wonderful friend. She was always there with a smile and a welcomed wave. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Cleveland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shorty on July 19, 1989 after sixty-five years of marriage. In addition to her husband, Cully was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Ellis, Carl, Connie, Joe, Ray and Herman; and a sister, Joyce.

She moved to Southern Hills Retirement Apartments in Tulsa in 1991 to be closer to her family. Cully passed away on Friday, June 9, 2002 at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of ninety-seven years, four months and two days.

Cully will be remembered and loved by her two sons, Donald Hopkins, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Robert Hopkins and his wife, Jane of Palm Desert, California; five grandchildren, Beth Walker, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sean and Lora Hopkins, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Amy and Greg Papantonia, Denver, Colorado, John Robert Hopkins, La Quinta, California, Sandra and Chris Brewster, Burbank, California; ten great-grandchildren, Frankie and Tony Medina, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Devin, Blake and Dylan Hopkins, La Quinta, California, Owen, Emma and Jacob Hopkins, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Graham and Evin Brewster, Burbank, California.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, June 10, 2002 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel with D. Norman Easter officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
