Graveside funeral services for Charles Benson McWilliams better know as Shorty will be held Saturday May 14, 2005 at 11:00 am in the Dixie-Bear Creek Cemetery with Kenny Christian officiating under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.

Shorty was born August 18, 1934 in Cleveland, Oklahoma to Benson Howard and Betty Mae (Conner) McWilliams. Shorty was raised and received his education in the Terlton Area where he graduated from high school. Soon after his gradation he began working for Pawnee County. On July 23, 1956 in Bristow, Oklahoma Shorty was united in marriage to Bonnie Charlene Starrett. Shorty and Bonnie made their initial home in the Cleveland Area. Shorty continued to work for the Pawnee County operating a Road Grader.

In 1985 Shorty retired and began helping take care of his grandchildren taking them to extracurricular activities as well as to and from school. Shorty also enjoyed talking on CB Radios with a handle of ìLittle Macî. Shorty was an avid John Wayne movie watcher as well as western television shows. You could usually find Shorty at the Hallett Store spending countless hours drinking coffee and visiting with his friends. Shorty took pleasure in being with his family, friends and grandchildren.

Shorty passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in Stillwater, Oklahoma at the age of 70 years 8 months and 23 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlene on November 1, 1985, two daughters Brenda and Bonnie as well as a a sister Evelyn Thomison.

Survived by his son Charles Howard and wife Jean McWilliams of Terlton, Oklahoma; one brother Wesley Howard McWilliams of Wellston, Oklahoma; one sister Beverly Lytle of Cleveland, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren Michelle Baker, Crystal Pryor, Angie McWilliams, Brandi Tull, Bubba Tull, Brandon McWilliams, Lacie Tull, Heather Tull, ten great grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
