March 9, 1932 — February 12, 2018

Buck Austin Dixon

Buck was born on March 9, 1932 in rural Prue, Oklahoma on what many called “Mud Creek.” He was the son of Troy and Lela Dixon. As a young man, he was raised in Osage, Oklahoma where he began his education. He graduated from Osage High School in 1950. Following graduation, Buck was united in marriage to Norma Jean Hulet in Cleveland, Oklahoma on August 9, 1950. Buck and Norma started traveling the United States as Buck began work in the pipeline construction industry. Buck started as a common laborer and as the years passed progressed to become a General Superintendent with different pipeline construction companies. He also diversified into the oil business and owned many leases in Osage County, Oklahoma. Even though Buck and Norma lived in many parts of the United States, they always considered Hominy, Oklahoma their home where they lived since 1960.

Buck loved to fish, hunt, watch OU football and especially basketball. In high school, he was an exceptional basketball player and upon graduation from high school was offered many basketball scholarships. The thing he loved to do the most was work. It seemed like not a day went by that he wasn’t working somewhere on something. He had a sweet tooth and enjoyed Norma’s “Red Cake.” At the end of every day when possible, you could find him fishing especially for large mouth bass most generally in fishing ponds regardless of what part of the country he was in. As a pipeliner, he learned how to operate many pieces of equipment and was especially gifted at boring roads with the old cradle type boring machines. His ability to manage people made him an exceptional superintendent. In the oil business, he loved to operate his old cable tool drilling rig and maintain his leases daily. Certain times of the year he and Norma would especially enjoy fishing for crappie. He was a loving person and always looked for the good in everyone and would help others whenever the opportunity presented itself.
