Brenda Annett

Brenda Reilly Annett was described by her family as a devoted, loving wife and mother. She was a perfectionist who always wanted to do her best. Brenda was a person who loved to laugh and her smile would absolutely light up the room. Qualities that are described best in God's Holy Word in Galatians 5:22-23: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." All these are part of the beautiful lady known as Brenda Annett.

Brenda was born on September 2, 1955 in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was raised an attended school there, graduating from Mainland High School in 1973. She also attended Daytona Beach Community College. While residing in Daytona Beach, Brenda attended First Baptist Church there and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior there and was saved. She often graciously remembered her Sunday School teachers from the Church and the impact they had upon her life. Her parents, James and Helen (Turman) Reilly had a tremendous influence on her life and assured she was raised in a Christian family and participated significantly in her early church association; preparing her for her life's adventure. She learned to play the piano and sing at an early age and made music an important part of her life as well.

After moving to Oklahoma, to attend Oklahoma Baptist University, she met Robert E. Annett. After a short courtship, they were engaged, moved to Daytona Beach, and were married on May 1, 1976 in her home church, First Baptist Church. The beginning of a relationship that would last over 40 years. Robert and Brenda moved back to Oklahoma in January of 1977 and made their home here. The couple raised two children, Jeremy Bryan and Reilly Deaun (Dawn). Brenda was involved for nearly thirty-five years playing the piano for numerous churches including, First Baptist Cleveland, Oak Grove Baptist in Drumright and Terlton Baptist Church. She served as the director of many children's choirs, led and directed vacation bible schools as well as training VBS teachers. On the lighter side, it was said, she also survived "raising Jeremy Annett."

She displayed an unconditional love for her children, an extraordinary passion for God's word while maintaining her infectious laughter, mischievous spirit and had an uncanny ability to talk with her eyes. In addition to her parents and Sunday School teachers her life was greatly effected by her music teachers, Pastor Lester Lunday at Oak Grove Baptist Church and most importantly by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition to playing the piano, Brenda enjoyed scrapbooking and spending time with her family. She only had one rule for those visiting her home, "You spill, I kill." She also enjoyed reading, spending time with her friends and church family, and watching the University of Oklahoma Sooners football team, especially if they were beating the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Brenda was also a NASCAR fan.

Brenda could often be found studying God's word reading the bible and truly enjoyed teaching the gospel to children as well as instilling a passion for music in the hearts of her students. After suffering a debilitating stroke, Brenda worked extremely hard during her rehabilitation and was showing definite signs of improvement when God called her to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of sixty-one.

Brenda is survived by her husband of forty-years, Robert E. Annett of the home; son and his wife, Jeremy Bryan and Jessica Annett of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a daughter and her husband, Reilly Deaun (Dawn) and Aaron Rowlett of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Jonothan Daniel Annett, Ezekiel Graham Annett, Samuel Talon Annett and Oliver Hayes Rowlett; three sisters, Terry and Ben Edwards of Woodstock, Georgia, Valorie Reilly of Tampa, Florida and Lisa Reilly of Wisconsin; numerous other relatives and friends who will mourn her passion. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jonothan Daniel.
