Bobbie Jean Henderson passed from this life on January 16, 2023, at the age of 75 in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Bobbie was born on June 18, 1947, in Great Bend, Kansas; the daughter of Donald "Richard" Ray and Delores Bernadine (Mauler) Chaney. Bobbie grew up and attended school in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Marquette Catholic School and Tulsa Central graduating in 1965. Bobbie was united in marriage to Auther Lee Henderson in Brentwood, California on December 28, 1965. They established their home in California while Auther was in the U.S. Navy. Bobbie soon returned to Oklahoma and Auther later joined her making their home Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bobbie later began working at NTC of America, Thomas and Betz and last worked at St. Catherines Elementary as the Chapter 1 math, computer and reading teacher from 1986 till she retired in 1997. In the early 1980's, Auther built Bobbie her dream home in Cleveland on Keystone Lake. Following her retirement from St. Catherines, Bobbie and Auther began working at Post Oak Lodge managing the housekeeping and guest services until 2006.
Bobbie always worked and ended up in charge of supervisor on her jobs. If you knew Mrs. Bobbie she was always fashionably late. During her time at St. Catherine's, Bobbie started the first morning and after school program and continued to be the director while she worked at school making sure all of the students had a snack and a hug. She was the leader of camp fire, cheer and Sunday school teacher as well. Easter dinners were always annual events at Bobbie and Arts. Christmas dinner, camping, fishing, card playing, bunko, floating the Illinois River, and Colorado trips with the Henderson's were always memorable events. Going to Lake Gibson at Mazies Landing were memorable summers and the best fish fry around. Bobbie enjoyed drawing in her art book, painting, fishing, cooking, canning, going to the grandkid's ballgames, and cheer performances all while enjoying a cold Pepsi with a straw. Tending to her garden with African violets and her tulips were just a few of her favorite plants. She was active in the Friendship Club, Garden Club, and playing games at the Seniors Center. Taking family trips were always eventful. Bobbie always looked forward going to Worlds of Fun, Branson Trips, bike runs with Art on the Harley with Pat and Gary Hulvey. Bobbie also hosted numerous Bunko parties for many decades.
