Billy William Miller, Sr.

Billy William Miller passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2001 at his home in Cleveland with his family by his side, at the age of sixty-two years, eleven months and one day. Billy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Williane Rome; and a brother, Winiford Miller of Mobile, Alabama. Billy was born on May 21, 1938 in Mobile, Alabama. He was raised by his mother, Abby Miller in the Mobile area and attended school there. Billy was married to Edna Earl Murray in Lusdale, Mississippi on June 3, 1957. The couple resided in the Mobile, Alabama area, raising five children, J. R., Eddie, Ann, Michael and Kaye, until 1974 when they moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma. Billy was a self-employed painter for most of his life, however, he did work for the City of Cleveland for a short period of time. Billy was an active member of the Ancient Order of Free and Accepted Masons, Hebron Lodge No. 215 where he was initiated and entered Apprentice on April 14, 1977, passed to Fellowcraft on September 22, 1977 and raised to Master Mason on November 10, 1979. He later became a member of the Akdar Shrine of Tulsa where he became 32nd Degree Mason. Additionally, Billy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. When his children where younger, Billy loved to take them fishing. He loved to travel all over, but especially like returning to the Biloxi, Mississippi area. He enjoyed country music and dancing and his favorite vocalist was George Jones. For nearly fifteen years, he played poker on Friday nights with his friends which they later moved to Saturday afternoons to accommodate Billy's illness. He spent countless hours watching his favorite game shows, Wheel of Fortune and Who Wants to Be A Millionaire. With all of the joys of his life, he especially was fond of spending time with his grandchildren. He was known for riding from daylight to dark with his wife of nearly forty-four years, Edna. Billy was also know to his family as being a great entertainer. Billy is survived by his wife, Edna of the home; five children, J. R. and Joy Miller, Cleveland, Oklahoma, Eddie and Carol Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ann and Larry Woodrell of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Michael Miller of the home and Kaye and Mathew Kesner of Cleveland, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren, Shauna Miller, Eddie Earl Miller, Jr., Sherri Miller, Megan Miller, Adam Miller, Kaitlyn Miller, Juilian Miller, Clint Woodrell, Courtney Woodrell, Kyle Kesner, Madison Kesner, Allie Kesner, three brothers, Gary Chaudron, Ray Chaudron, and Pat Miller, all of Mobile, Alabama; two sisters, Kathy Austin of Mobile, Alabama and Maxine Miller Ingram of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; and a sister-in-law, Margret Price Williams of the home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel in Cleveland. Burial will under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
