Billy Leroy Tabor

Billy Leroy Tabor, 57, passed from this life on December 3, 2018, in Cleveland, Oklahoma following a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Leroy was born on December 10, 1960, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Leroy was the son of Olin Tabor and Barbara June (Hutson) Catherwood. He attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1979 from Cleveland High School. Following high school, Leroy worked in the oil field for Spess as well as BSO for over ten years. Leroy worked during the days and attended school at night to obtain his nursing degree. In 2002, he received his Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree while also raising his two girls. After graduation, Leroy worked as a floor nurse at OSU Medical Center. He also worked as a traveling nurse in Yuba City, California, and St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. Later, he returned and accepted employment with Tulsa Spine and then St. Johns Medical Center. Leroy was currently working at St. Johns in the dialysis unit where he had been for the past three years. His longest stint was in ICU 8 West at St. Johns.
Leroy was a simple man. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and hanging with his grandkids. He loved going to see them and eating ice cream together. He enjoyed listening to classic rock and Fox News. Leroy was always helping others. He was a 27-year sponsor and participant with Alcoholics Anonymous. Leroy was devoted and believed in the program. He had his last meeting at his home shortly before he passed. If you ever asked for advice, he would always preface his comment with; “now this is just a suggestion.” Leroy will be greatly missed for his humor, love, and help to those who needed him.
Survivors are his two daughters Dana Hill and her husband Travis of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Rachelle Burgess and her husband Gary of Cleveland, Oklahoma; parents Olin Tabor of Terlton and Barbara Catherwood of Tulsa; siblings Gale Tabor of Tulsa, Kenny Tabor and his wife Anita of Cleveland, Rodney Tabor of Enid, Lisa Corbett and her husband Wes of Prue, Margaret Reeves and her husband Joe of Tulsa, Dawn Schmidt and her husband Steve of Owasso; five grandchildren Skyla, Ella, Ruby, Josslyn and Caroline; as well as numerous other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. Leroy was preceded in death by his sister, Lori Brewer.
In April of 1975, Leroy was baptized alongside his brother, Kenny, at Terlton Baptist Church.
Leroy donated his body to the Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. No formal services are planned. The family has requested memorial donations be made in honor of Leroy to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN), 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266, 877-573-9971.
