Betty Lou Douglas was born July 3, 1940 in Shelby, Ohio to Donald and May K. (Vader) Douglas. Betty grew up and received her education in Harrison, Michigan. Betty made her home in the Corunna and Flint, Michigan area where she raised her four children Douglas, Craig, Rene and Derrick. In the mid 1970ís Betty opened a large home and garden store called D and B Lawn and Garden. Betty operated D and B Lawn and Garden for many years. In the early 1980ís she sold D and B Lawn and Garden and moved to Claremore, Oklahoma. Betty accepted employment at the Will Rogers Hotel. In the 1980ís Betty moved from Claremore to Mannford where she began working at the Cimarron Pointe Nursing Home where she soon became a Certified Medical Assistant. In the early 1990ís Betty accepted employment at Jack Griffithís Convenience Store in Cleveland where she was currently the Manager. Betty had been employed with Jack Griffithís for the past 15 years.

Betty loved being at home with her family and especially her dogs Duke, Bugsy, Bonnie and Taffy. Betty took an eight month long vacation in 1991 traveling through Arizona, Nevada, Washington and British Columbia, Canada on her way to Alaska. Betty had a soft heart for animals. She would nurse them back to health and either find a home for them or keep them as a part of her family.

Betty passed away Wednesday April 20, 2005 at the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of 64 years 9 months and 17 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Survived by her children, Douglas Irving Mason of Columbus, Ohio; Craig Manford and wife Donna Mason of Jennings, Oklahoma; Rene Michele and husband E.J. Johnson of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Derrick Anthony & wife Rosemary Dowland of Mannford, Oklahoma; sister Beeda Mae, grandchildren, Amber Schwartz, Brittany Dowland, Zachary Dowland as well as numerous other relatives, friends and loyal customers.

Memorial services will be held Friday April 22, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with services officiated by Rev. Dan Edens.
