Betty began her education in Rush Springs before moving to California in 1939, where the family established their home; completing her education in Tulare, California. While attending a church function, Betty met her soon to be husband Earnest Carl Ward. They were later united in marriage in Tulare, California on July 18, 1948. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Los Angeles area. During that time, the couple had four children John, David Armetta and Dorothea. They remained in California until January of 1970; at that time, they establishing their home in Cleveland, Oklahoma. In the latter part of 1970, Betty and Ernie purchased Katie’s Café and established Ernie’s Café. They later partnered in Ward’s Restaurant on West Caddo with Phil and Judy Ann Ward. Betty was also an artist doing painting, pencil drawings or just a simple picture with mercurochrome on a boo boo. Betty also loved to have fun. She went on several trips with the senior citizens always being the life of the journey. She would often dress up as someone famous or lead the tour with karaoke; always wanting to make the event fun and eventful. She always loved traveling especially when her family was with her. Holiday times were also very eventful which would follow with board games, cards or Texas 42 dominoes.

Betty was a devout Christian and always wanted those she was around to know about Jesus Christ her Lord and Saviour. It was not uncommon for her to ask if you were saved. It was always her goal to lead those that were unsure of Christ. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and Sunday school teacher.
