Betty Jo Faulkner, 79, of Prue, Oklahoma died Monday, January 9, 2017, at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Betty was born April 17, 1937, in Camden, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Washie Green and Flora Mae (Kee) Hedges. As a young girl, Betty grew up in Camden where she received her education. Betty later moved to Elgin, Illinois, during her time in Elgin she worked at a local factory. In the 1990’s, Betty moved to the Tulsa area and began working at Hilti Manufacturing. On December 23, 1990, Betty was united in marriage to Connie Grant Faulkner. The two established and she has continued to reside in Prue, Oklahoma.

Betty was a person who loved to give to others. She was the church historian and photographer for many years at Prue First Baptist Church. Betty also wrote articles for the Hominy News-Progress. She was an active part of Prue and Green Country Fire Departments, Prue 4H, and Friends of Prue Road as well as many other organizations. Betty loved to work in her flowerbed which was a bed frame with flowers growing in it. Betty has been described as a very active, patriotic and devoted Christian.

Survivors are daughter Bernadette Wear of Owensboro, Kentucky; four grandchildren Jesse Johnson, Josh Johnson, Christa Wear, Ashley Wear and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Grant.

Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at First Baptist Church in Prue, Oklahoma with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. Betty donated her body to the University of Oklahoma Medical School. Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com.
