Bethel Kay McGrew passed from this life on November 25, 2018, at the age of 64 in Jennings, Oklahoma.
Bethel was born on October 21, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bethel was the daughter of Fred Henry and Bethel Ludena (Jamison) Redfearn. Bethel attended school in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Central High School. Bethel was united in marriage to Jack Wendell McGrew on November 5, 1971, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. The couple later moved to Kansas. During that time, she returned to school following a promise to her parents and graduated high school from Junction City High School. Bethel and Jack resided in Fort Riley, Kansas for several years before moving to Springfield, Missouri. Bethel returned to further her education and attended Baptist Bible College. The couple later returned to Tulsa, and Bethel began working at TG&Y in the craft department. She then started working for Walmart in the craft department as the department manager for many years. She also worked in the loss prevention department for Walmart before becoming assistant manager in McKinney, Texas. Bethel and Jack returned to Sand Springs, and she started working at Heritage Baptist School as a PreK and kindergarten teacher. Bethel loved to learn and returned to school and obtained her nursing certificate. Upon graduation, she started working at Broken Arrow Family Medical and Associates for Dr. Asher. In 2005, Bethel and Jack moved to Jennings, Oklahoma where they have continued to reside.
Bethel loved making crafts and made all the props for graduation and special programs at that school while she was teaching at Heritage Baptist School. Her favorite place to visit was Branson, Missouri or go camping. She and Jack recently took a vacation to Mt. Rushmore and were looking forward to a trip to Alaska. Her family loved when Bethel would make chicken and dumplings a recipe handed down from her grandmother in law. Bethel and Jack were members of Timber Ridge Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma.
Survivors are her husband Jack McGrew of the home, children Wendy Mullin and her husband Jack of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Valerie Raney and her husband Cody of Jennings, Oklahoma; three sisters Darlene Tugmon and her husband Billy of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Bobbie Mulanax and her husband Eldon of Tulsa, Oklahoma , Fay Redfearn of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren Cody Waller, Joseph Mullin, Josie Mullin, Timothy Raney, Tyler Raney, one great-granddaughter Paizlee Waller; her dog Roxie as well as numerous other relatives. Bethel was preceded in death by her father Fred Redfearn and her mother, Bethel Redfearn.
Pallbearers will include Jack Mullin, Cody Raney, Tim Mulanax, Timothy Raney, Joseph Mullin, Nathan McGrew. Honorary pallbearer will be Tyler Raney
Services will be held on Thursday; 2:00 pm; November 29, 2018, at the Western Heights Baptist Church with Pastor James Morgan officiating the services. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery at Jennings, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
