Ava Rosemary Oakly

Ava Rosemary Oakley, 87, was born in rural Mitchell County, Kansas on August 18, 1920 to Roy Nelson Oakley and Mary Ellen (Williams) Oakley. Ava attended and graduated from Glen Elder High School in 1939.

She was united in marriage to J. Fay Hutchinson on October 18, 1940 in Caldwell, Idaho. They had one daughter, Sandra Jean.

Ava lived in several states and worked various jobs such as Woolworths and Sambos. On July 5, 1966 Ava was united in marriage to Dale Akins in San Diego, Califonia. After retirement she moved to Austin, Texas to be close to her daughter and granddaughter. Sandra Jean(age 51) passed away on July 20, 1992. Her granddaughter Christine K. Wood (age 27) passed away on January 4, 1994. Ava was cared for by Heartland Health Care in Austince since June 17, 1999 due to dementia. She was well cared for by both Heartland and Eldercare. She went peacefully into eternity on March 24, 2008.

In addition to her daughter and granddaughter, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant granddaughter, Tanya, a brother, Hubert Oakley and a sister, Evelyn Miller. She is survived by a sister, Fern Lund of Glen Elder, Kansas and three nieces and cousins.

Graveside funeral services will be held on May 23, 2008 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit, Kansas.
