Anna Mae Jefferson went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, April 21, 2014, at the age of 79 years, nine months and three days. Anna was born on July 18, 1934, in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Lee Roy and Eva Bell (Scott) Turner. As a young girl Anna grew up in the Hominy Creek area attending the Perrier School. She later moved with her family to Santa Cruz, California. Anna remained in California with her parents until they returned to Oklahoma and moved to Blackburn. Anna finished her last two years of high school in Blackburn where she graduated. Anna later met the love of her life Billy Voshell Jefferson. The two was united in marriage on May 12, 1954, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. They established their initial home in Blackburn, before moving to Sand Springs in 1958. Anna and Bill moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they resided until 1980. During their time in Tulsa, the couple established Jefferson Trash Service. The two owned and operated the company and later relocated to Cleveland in 1980. Anna helped Bill operate the business as their secretary and before retirement sold the operation to their son Dennis who has continued the operation. Anna was a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed working in her garden as well as babysitting her grandchildren. Anna loved to go traveling and taking vacations. Some of her trips have included going to Disney World, Destin, Florida, Panama City and visiting family in California. Anna also enjoyed going to Branson which always included going to see Andy Williams. At the age of 70, Anna did what she has called one of the most peaceful experiences around, parasailing. Often telling friends and family afterwards that it is a must to experience. Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter was always a family event with her preparing food for everyone at her home. Anna has been a faithful and devoted member to the Church of Christ in Cleveland for many years. She is described by her family as a loving, caring and jovial person who loved to laugh. Anna always loved the times her family was together and especially when she was able to prepare food for them. Survivors are her loving husband of over 59 years Bill of the home; four children Debbie Collins and husband Phil of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Denise Laake and her husband Steven of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Deanna Mares and her husband Michael of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dennis Jefferson and his wife Tia of Terlton, Oklahoma; one brother Gene Turner and his wife Connie of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren Tamara, Vanessa, Tammy, Jason, Jeremy, Justin, Matthew, Amanda, Miranda, Sean, Ashley, Jamie, Ethen, Channing, Mia, Mitchell, Jayden; twenty four great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents Anna was preceded in death by her sister Lillian Faye Perrin. Church services will be held 10:00 am Friday, April 25, 2014, at the Church of Christ in Cleveland with Doug Dingley officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackburn Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
