Albert Lawson Hanlon

Albert Lawson Hanlon, 92, passed from this life on September 19, 2021, at his home in Jennings, Oklahoma.

On August 18, 1929, Albert was born in Oilton, Oklahoma, the son of Lawson Floyd and Venus (Webb) Hanlon. Albert grew up and attended school in Jennings, later graduating from Jennings High School in 1948. Following high school, Albert attended Oklahoma A & M College in Stillwater. He was an active part of the ROTC and graduated with his bachelor's degree in Animal Husbandry. On August 2, 1953, Albert joined the United States Army serving two years being honorably discharged on May 1, 1955. Albert returned to Jennings, and on April 1, 1956, he was united in marriage to Bertha Marie Isbell. The couple established their initial home on Parker Ranch in Chelsea, Oklahoma, where Albert worked as a showman. They later moved to Hallett, Oklahoma, on the Lazy T Ranch, where Albert worked as the ranch manager before purchasing their home just east of Jennings, where he resided until his passing. Albert also worked as the general manager of McClean Ranch in Willard, Missouri. In 1975, he accepted employment at the First National Bank of Pawnee due to his knowledge of cattle and ranching. Albert retired in 1998, after 23 years in the banking business. He continued with his ranching business, which he never considered a job because he loved doing.

Albert always enjoyed being at home on the ranch, laughing with others, sweet-talking the head cook, and doing the chores. He spent many hours watching basketball or the grandkids participating in their school activities. Going to Eureka Springs and Red River, New Mexico, were always memorable trips. Albert is described as honest, loving, a devoted Christian, and a man of character.

Survivors are his one son Nile Hanlon and his wife Susan of Jennings, Oklahoma; one grandson Eric Hanlon and wife Angela; four great grandchildren Abigail, Bella, Thaddeus and Declan, and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. Albert was preceded in death by his father Lawson F. Hanlon, Venus Ramey; wife Bertha Marie, one granddaughter Katina Hanlon, one great-granddaughter Kaylee Hamner.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Jennings Cemetery with Chaplain Russ Hughs officiating. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
