Ada Lou Herrington

Ada Lou Herington, lifelong Cleveland resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of ninety-three. Ada was born on November 14, 1921 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ola V. and Florence "Flossie" (Hoffman) Nobbs. Ada was raised and attended school in Cleveland, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1940. Ada was described by friends and family as a wonderful, independent and honest wife and friend who lived a Christian life. She often said that she was blessed with many memories of happy times while working with the two and three year old children in Sunday School at the Church of Christ in Cleveland. They gave her so much joy and many happy memories. She always felt she had the love of so many friends and was moved by the encouragement, compassion and teaching of her Pastor, Doug. The gifts of rides to church, doctor, shopping and the beauty shop were appreciated and the acts of kindness gave her a strong sense of being loved. Ada lived her life by her favorite scriptures, John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Ada was married to Lloyd W. "Shorty" Herrington on December 27, 1961 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. The couple made their initial home in Hominy but moved to Cleveland in 1987. Ada commented often how much she loved her "Shorty" and truly enjoyed traveling with him and most of all attending church. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading good books, word searches and outdoor work with her flowers and feeding the birds. Simple things like sight seeing, going for a nice ride and listening to good music provided Ada with much fun. Ada is survived by a sister-in-law, Alice Nobbs of Tulsa; special "daughter and son-in-law" Becky and Jack Dinsen of Manistee, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, loving friends and especially her church family. Funeral services will be held a 2:00 pm, Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Cleveland, Oklahoma with Doug Dingley officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Donations can be made to Hope Harbor Children's Home & Family Ministries, P.O. Box 1047, Claremore, Oklahoma 74018. https://14000.thankyou4caring.org/sslpage.aspx?pid=298
