Wayne Alvin Forrest

Wayne Alvin Forrest was born December 05, 1946 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was the son of Everett Hugh and Virgie Virginia (Sidliek) Forrest. Wayne was raised and attended school in Leonard, Oklahoma.
Upon completion of his education, Wayne was united in marriage to Rosemary Cartwright on March 30, 1965. The couple made their initial home in Leonard until 1971. At that time Wayne and Rosemary moved from Leonard to Oregon. After several months they returned to Leonard where they continued to reside in 1979. During much of this time Wayne was employed at Benson Supply, a lumber yard in Tulsa. In 1979, the couple moved to Osage and purchased a home. Wayne through the encouragement of Rosemary enjoyed breaking wild horses. Following the couple's divorce, Wayne moved to Cleveland for a couple of years and then to Hectorville, Oklahoma. From 1993 through 1999 Wayne resided in Wisconsin where he worked on an onion farm. He again returned to Hectorville and accepted employment at Liberty Glass and later as a maintenance man at a nursing home in Glenpool.
In 2008, Rosemary and Wayne reunited and established their home in Mounds where they were residing when Rosemary passed away on March 20, 2010. Wayne continued to reside in Mounds and later was married to Ellen Inez Cochran on February 3, 2012 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. He was described by his family as a hard headed man that enjoyed teasing those around him and was a great grandfather. Although somewhat of an outlaw, Wayne never met a stranger and enjoyed life the most when surrounded by lots of family and friends. When he would answer the telephone when someone would call and ask what he was doing, Wayne would often respond, "sitting here being have myself."
He was extremely rugged and tough. On one occasion when he cut his hand severely while stripping some electrical wire he just put his hand down in some kerosene to sterilize it and stop the bleeding. His comment was, "it's to far from the heart to kill me." As mentioned, Wayne was a tad bit of an outlaw; he loved hunting but preferred to hunt when his prey was out of season, including, deer, coon, and squirrel. He always said it taste better then. Wayne also enjoyed fishing for catfish in all ways possible. One of his favorite means was to use an old fashion hand cranked telephone to bring the harvest to the surface.
Wayne enjoyed watching rodeos and was a Green Bay Packer and Oklahoma University Sooner football fan. In his spare time he could be found watching old televisions westerns including Gun Smoke. He often jokingly expressed to his children that he was going to outlast them all.
Wayne passed from this life on Friday, July 14, 2017 at his home near Mounds, Oklahoma at the age of seventy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Rosemary.
