Norman Spencer

Norman Wayne Spencer, of Jennings, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the age of 87 years.
Norman was born February 6, 1930, in Cleveland, Oklahoma.  He was the son of Samuel L. and Mary (Cline) Spencer.  Norman was raised and received his education in the Cleveland Area.  Following the completion of his education, Norman began working in the oil fields of Oklahoma.  In 1949, Norman was united in marriage to Pauline Wilkins.  The couple initially established their home in Cleveland and later moved to Kansas following the oil industry.  To this union, there are four children Darrell, Luci, Mary, and Marsha.  Norman was then united in marriage to Delores Holmes and to that union there is one daughter Brenda.  In 1960, Norman returned to Oklahoma.  He later gained employment with Oklahoma Dredging.  He worked from Catoosa to Memphis on the McClellan–Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System.  A part of the inland waterway system originating at the Tulsa Port of Catoosa and running southeast through Oklahoma and Arkansas to the Mississippi River.  On June 8, 1968, Norman was united in marriage to Phyllis Ann Moler.  The couple later moved to Roland, Oklahoma where the couple resided until 1981.  Norman and Phyllis returned to the Cleveland area, and he began working for Dean Eyler Drilling.  In 1996, Norman retired fully.  
Norman enjoyed woodworking, making things out of metal, gardening, ranching and raising cattle.  On February 19, 1984, Norman accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at the First Baptist Church in Hallett.  Norman was active in the church and enjoyed driving the van going around picking people up bringing them to church.
Survivors are his six children Darrell Spencer and his wife Delores of Marion, Kansas, Luci Helmer and her husband Ladd of Marion, Kansas, Mary Wike and her husband Ralph of Harper, Kansas, Brenda Solis of Longview, Texas, Amy Dalton of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Beth White of Jennings, Oklahoma; two brothers Floyd Spencer of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Lloyd Spencer of McAlester, Oklahoma; twenty grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents Norman was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis; daughter Marsha Helmer, three brothers Willis Spencer, Cletus Spencer, Bud Spencer and a granddaughter Jenny Helmer.
Services will 2:00 PM Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Hallett with Pastor Earl Wessell officiating.  Friends may share a memory with the family online at www.chapman-black.com.
