Linda Kathryn Klepper

Linda Kathryn Heidebrecht “ Heide” Klepper, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017, in Inola, Oklahoma, where she was a resident of the Inola Health and Rehab. She had an outpouring of love and care by the entire staff and residents who became her friends, especially her roommate Patricia.

Linda was born on January 24, 1950, in Altus, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of three girls born to Ervin and Jackie Heidebrecht. In April of 1958, Linda moved with her family to Cleveland, Oklahoma. Linda began her education in Cleveland and later graduated with the Class of 1968. Following graduation, Linda began her college education in Weatherford, Oklahoma, where she majored in journalism and minored in art. In 1972, Linda obtained her Bachelor’s Degree. During her time in college, she worked as a reporter for the Southwestern University newspaper in Weatherford. One of Linda’s favorite assignments while working for “The Southwestern” was interviewing Neil Diamond. Linda also worked for the Lawton Constitution and Cleveland American, where she was a writer for the newspapers. Later in her career, she worked for the State of Oklahoma, in Tulsa, on the WIN project as a social worker and career counselor. Linda also obtained the qualifications as a licensed massage therapist.

Linda was an avid reader. At a young age when it was bedtime, she often read by a flashlight in hopes her mom and dad would not catch her. She enjoyed growing vegetables, flower gardening, fishing and hunting for arrowheads. Linda was great at crafting, especially “Dream Catchers,” drawing, and painting, as well as being an excellent seamstress. Linda made Cecelia’s wedding dress, bridesmaids’ dresses, and formals. She made a formal for Karen as well. Linda loved playing board games and being outdoors with her nieces and nephews.

Linda wore many hats. Name it and she did it. Most would call her jack of many trades and master of all. She was the winner of the Betty Crocker Homemaker during high school. She won on the basis of superior performance on a written examination. Linda was Cleveland’s first winner of an essay contest sponsored by the Indian Electric Cooperative. Her prize was an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.
Writing was not her only area of excellence. She was also an excellent artist. Her posters often decorated the halls of the school building and her church, where she was a member of the choir. Throughout her elementary and secondary years, she took top awards in the annual poster contests sponsored by the water and soil conservation district. The high school newspaper would regularly carry illustrations drawn by Linda.
Her dramatic abilities were discovered by Mrs. Thelma Bartlett, speech and drama coach. Mrs. Bartlett first used her new enrollee in a duet act for open house during American Education Week. Linda won a part in a one-act play "To Burn A Witch", which was entered in a speech tournament at the Oklahoma Military Academy. The play had a four-member, all girl cast.
Linda was consistently named to the school's honor roll and the State Honor Society, often with straight A's.

Survivors are her two sisters Cecelia Ann Hunter and her husband Jim of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Karen Sue Gentry and her husband Robert of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; four nieces and nephews Donica Leigh Webb and her husband Joey of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Lieutenant Colonel Jeremiah Shi Gentry of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Dr. John Daniel Gentry and his wife Meagan of Charleston, South Carolina, Lindsey Ann Hunter of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great nieces and nephews Jermaine Webb and his wife Brandie, Jameson Gentry, Josianne Gentry, Easton Webb, Casen Webb, Jacob Gentry, Aria Gentry, and Emersyn Webb; great great niece Brooklyn Webb and numerous other friends and relatives. Linda was preceded in death by her loving parents Ervin and Jackie.
