Funeral services for Jerry Wendell Darrow, 82, of Hominy, Oklahoma will be held 10:30 AM Friday, July 6, 2018, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev. Garry McDevitt officiating. Private burial will be held in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery. Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home or online at www.chapman-black.com. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Jerry was born on October 18, 1935, in Vinson, Oklahoma. He was the son of Early Siren and Lillie Mae (Burleson) Darrow. Jerry grew up in Vinson where he later graduated from high school. Following high school, Jerry furthered his education at Draughon Business College in Oklahoma City. Jerry then moved to Fort Hood, Texas and during that time he was a member of the Army Reserve. Several years later Jerry moved to Wichita, Kansas during that time he gained employment with McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. Jerry then moved to Pampa Texas. During that time he opened the Spudnut Doughnut Shop. Jerry operated two locations one in Pampa and the other in Wellington from 1958 till 1962. Jerry then moved to Lubbock, Texas at that time he began working for American National Life. After 20 years as an insurance agent, Jerry changed careers and started working for Burlington Northern Railroad as a conductor until 1995. On April 15, 1987, Jerry was united in marriage to Mary Arline. Following their marriage, the couple established their home in Amarillo, Texas. In 1993, Arline and Jerry moved to Corum, Oklahoma. In 2004, Jerry and Arline moved to their current home in Osage where he has continued to reside.

Jerry enjoyed working in the garden and wood working. Every year Jerry grew a massive amount of fruits and vegetables and later sold them to his friends and family. He loved going to the lake and spending time camping. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and dominoes. Cooking was also an activity that Jerry enjoyed. Yearly Jerry would bar-b-que for the softball girls during the time Casey and Destiny were growing up.

Survivors are his, children Jerry Lee Darrow and his wife Kim of Hominy, Oklahoma, Debbie Wood of Temple, Texas; brother Dwain Darrow and his wife Billie Ann of Maysville, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Arline; three brothers Ansel, Tine and Clarence Darrow as well as two sisters Jo Hickman and Jimmie Casey and his son-in-law Jimmy Wood.
