David Hayden Almy

David Hayden Almy, U.S. Navy veteran, retired Purchasing Agent, devoted husband, loving
father and grandfather, passed away May 7, 2017. David was born in 1929 in Keystone, OK, the only child of Louis and Ruby Almy. Although he had no siblings he had numerous cousins he loved dearly and who visited frequently. After graduation in Cleveland, OK with the class of 1947, David served four years in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and spent time in various ports, including Japan, Hawaii, and Alaska. He received an honorable discharge in 1952, and enrolled at TU where he took accounting courses. He accepted employment as a buyer at W.C. Norris, Dover Division, where he worked for 16 years. He then worked as Purchasing Agent at Econo Therm, Ardun Supply, and Cooper Manufacturing, and retired from Radco Industries.

David married his high school sweetheart, lla," the love of my life", in January 1953 and they enjoyed over 64 years of marriage. They have two children, Janet Gail Richardson and David Michael. He treasured and loved his family and friends. He was a very involved father, coaching Mike's teams in baseball and basketball, Janet's coach in softball, and later enjoyed attending her cheerleading practices and games. He also enjoyed success as a Junior High football coach where he coached for eight years.

David and lla enjoyed traveling to many areas, including Hawaii and Alaska, the Cayman Islands, Cancun, St. Thomas, North Carolina, the New England states, New Orleans, Las Vegas and Reno, Corpus Christi, Galveston, and Miami Beach, and took several cruises visiting ports in the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

David liked all sports, but especially enjoyed OU football. He loved going to the Orange Bowl in Florida to see them play- and win! He was an outgoing person with a delightful sense of humor and really enjoyed people. He was a member of the Sand Springs Church of Christ, where he served as Deacon and Treasurer for 26 years.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 64 years, lla, and his beloved children, Janet Gail
Richardson and husband Joe of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, David Michael and wife Mary Ann of Sand Springs Oklahoma, his loved and precious grandchildren Jennifer, Jonathan, Amy, Shelly, Dennis, Jody and Marla, 19 great grandchildren and numerous beloved cousins.

Services will be held at 10:00 am, May 11, 2017 at Sand Springs Church of Christ, Sand Springs, Oklahoma with Elliott Dunn officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Sinnett Cemetery. Friends and family may leave a message online at www.chapman-black.com.
