Charles Edward Swanson, 80, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at his home.

Charles was born June 2, 1938, in Rural Pawnee County, Oklahoma. He was the son of Carl J. and Bessie Myrtle (Skinner) Swanson. Charles grew up in the Jennings, Hallett and Maramec area. He attended a one-room school until the second grade and then attended Maramec Schools where he graduated from high school in 1956. Following graduation, Charles began working at National Tank in West Tulsa. The company later was purchased by C.E. Natco which later closed in the early 1980’s. At that time Charles began working for Globe before accepting a position with Boeing as a radiographer. In 1988, Charles moved to Seattle, Washington and continued working at Boeing until his retirement in September of 2002. Following his retirement, Charles returned to Oklahoma. On April 17, 2003, he was united in marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Nichols in Stillwater, Oklahoma making their home in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

Charles had numerous things he enjoyed doing in his spare time. They include target shooting, reloading ammunition and photography. He was Past President of the Sand Springs Gun Club and a former board member for the C.E. Natco Credit Union. Charles also enjoyed returning to the West Coast to visit his son and travel to the numerous national parks in the area. Charles is also a member of the Fisher Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife Elizabeth of the home, one son Brandon Swanson and his wife Paula of Kent, Washington, two stepdaughters Laura Leigh Hinkie and Ron of Duncan, Oklahoma, LaJonna Lynn McDonald of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; one brother Kenneth Swanson of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; one sister Barbara Swanson of Pawnee, Oklahoma; one grandson Jeffery Swanson of Renton, Washington; step-grandchildren Chet Dysart, Dent Dysart and his wife Cayla, step great grandchildren Cohen and Blair Dysart and numerous other relatives and friends that will mourn his passing. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one sister Wanda Johnston.

Funeral Service Church will be held 1:00 PM Monday at Fisher Baptist Church in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery in Pawnee, Oklahoma.
